Giving Charity (in Silver) Equal to the Weight of a Newborn's Hair
Answered by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn 'Umar Bazmool
It has been reported that Faatimah – may Allaah be pleased with her – used to give charity (in silver) equal to the weight of her newborn’s hair after shaving it on the seventh day. Is that a Sunnah she got from the Prophet – may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace – or was it her own preferred way of giving (optional) charity?

A pivotal lecture for parents, youngster, teachers and students, over-viewing the purpose of creation and the path of true Islaam. A unique and important lecture given to an audience of young Muslims. Abu Khadeejah 'Abdul-Waahid begins by explaining the blessing of Islaam upon the Muslim, the bounties of Allaah's mercy, and why we owe Allaah our thanks. Later, many examples are brought to exemplify the disaster of shirk and the punishment that awaits in the hereafter, as well as a brief description of the Paradise.
